Hello, I have a owatonna (mustang) 1700 skid steer that im looking to convert to Hydraulic drive . I've research a ton and can't seem to find an awnser or even specs on what hydraulic drive motor would be best for the conversion ?

I purchased a Mustang 1700 last fall and now that the weather is breaking I am starting to work on it. It is complete but has a seized Ford V4 motor in it. I am currently working on freeing it up. Wondering if anyone has swapped the motor to a modern motor and if so how hard was it, what size motor etc.

Does anyone know when the stopped using this motor in the Mustang 1700? Other than the engine number I cannot find any information on the tractor to help identify th.

You might want to check with a current Mustang dealer to see if parts are available for the old OMC (Mustang)machines. Not sure what your budget is but I'd look for something like a Bobcat 742/743 or maybe a bigger 843.
